Network online. The best e-business projects in DS/MLM. Part one: TIENS new image website.

przez Maciej Maciejewski (english version)

How to build a positive image of a company, how to convey information about a product in an attractive manner, how to increase an average value of an order, a number of orders as well as to reach a new group of clients and distributors/consultants? Answers to these questions may result in projects from the widely understood „digital” area, skillfully aligned with the character and strategy of a business undertaking.

We begin the publication of a new series of articles generally entitled: “Network online. The best e-business projects in DS/MLM.” The next issues of Network Magazyn will contain presentations of the most interesting "online" projects made by Marek Sodolski, an expert in the area of e-business solutions for MLM and Direct Selling. And today, for a good start, the series shall commence with an interview with Marek Sodolski who became known for innovative and interesting implementations for Amway and Avon, and currently holds the position of Vice President – European Sales and Marketing at the Chinese company TIENS that operates in the network marketing segment of business.

People like spending money in different ways but decisions about shopping, even of it is done the traditional way outside the Internet, are more and more often taken basing on information about a given company or product that was found online. Tiens new website was presented during Warsaw's meeting of European distributors that was held last October. It was designed both for mobile and stationary devices. Marek Sodolski is both project initiator and manager.

Maciej Maciejewski: What features make Tiens website stand out in the crowd?

Marek Sodolski: It is constructed using responsive design technology, i.e. it adjusts individually to the sort of a device: a computer, a tablet or a smartphone. It also allows to efficiently manage its contents in 14 national language versions. The content itself is also original since it is not restricted to the sole presentation of the company, its operations and products but it also focuses on China, i.e. the native country of Tiens in terms of its culture, philosophy, customs, language, geography and cuisine. It also provides information about traditional Chinese medicine. I will proudly emphasize the fact that the website for the Chinese tycoon was designed and made from top to bottom in Poland both in terms of the website concept, graphic design, programming and essential contents.

I must admit that the pace of preparations is a distinguishing feature of this project as well. Persuading the bosses of the company that the Chinese are not the only nation that excels in programming was not easy and took nearly a year in comparison with 4 months counted from the beginning of work to presenting the website to 1000 TIENS distributors from all over Europe. However, very kind opinions about the new project expressed by TIENS leaders were the nicest aspect.

Maciej Maciejewski: In what way can the project influence the interest in the company, products, business?

Marek Sodolski: Competition on the MLM and food supplements market is very high. Nowadays it is not sufficient any more to offer the best product or the best business model. New ways of reaching clients must be constantly sought. Not only directly, which is typical for multi-level marketing, but also indirectly, which a well-designed website enables to do. The fact itself that fans of Asia, Chinese culture or people interested in TCM will be able to quickly find information using our browser and our website will certainly increase a number of people that are familiar with TIENS brand. This way they will be able to get to know about the company, its products and business model.

Moreover, everyone who looks for the right supplements for themselves will be able to quickly find an offer that meets their needs. Other things are interesting for a person who is physically active, other things fascinate a person who is looking for a way to achieve a perfect weight or wants to fight insomnia. The mobile version of the website is supposed to help us reach a new segment of prospects for which using the Internet is part of everyday life. For the first time in history our business will support the integration with social media to such a huge extent, which will impact the frequency of communication with TIENS brand.

Maciej Maciejewski: In what way can the new website help  distributors that are active in the business?

Marek Sodolski: The website is an efficient tool designed to acquire new prospects and new distributors online. Besides, nowadays we obtain the majority of information about the world and business from the Internet. A modern website helps to build a modern image of a company, which may also be significant when recruiting new people to TIENS business. What is most important: our distributors will have an access to resources of all the current news about products, the company and sale supporting programs, which will be available 24 hours per day.

Maciej Maciejewski: Are e-commerce and social media the future of multi-level marketing?

Marek Sodolski: I would say yes, "digital presence" is not the future, it is the daily bread of every business. In the contemporary world even the smallest service point would like to be found by means of search engines.

A modern MLM business should take handfuls of the treasures the Internet has to offer – by selling products to its distributors, by providing information about results generated by a network, by organizing videoconferences during training seminars. Soon I will share information with the readers of Network Magazyn about other interesting projects that can be helpful in the process of becoming successful – I will write about other interesting projects in the industry and will try to convince the readers of the importance of "multichannel", "mobile first" and "gamification" slogans.

Maciej Maciejewski: Thank you for the interview.
